Kade - 9 Months Old

Kade is 9 months old! 3/4 of a year old! AHH!

Kade is about 15 1/2 lbs and 25 inches long. Kade is sleeping in our room still for naps and at night in his pack n play. For some reason, he has been waking up 2-3 times during the night this past month. He more and more often can get away with only 2 naps per day. He has been waking up between 5:00-7:00 am and still goes to bed around 7:00-7:30 at night. Kade is now in size 3 diapers. And he is in mostly 3-6 month clothes with a few exceptions of some pants that are still 0-3 months and a shirt that is 9 months.

This little boy loves to constantly be moving and exploring anywhere and everywhere he can get to. He has mastered crawling on his hands and knees and goes from room to room following the action or checking out what new exciting thing he can find to play with. He loves pulling up on EVERYTHING with his favorites being the fireplace, cardboard boxes, his activity cube, the sliding glass door, beds, and the couches. You can tell he is so proud of himself when he gets himself standing. One of his current favorite things is to scrunch up his nose and eyes and make a sniffing sound through his nose. He does this if anyone does it to him, if he sees himself in a mirror or the phone camera, when he is excited, and right when he first sees me in the morning. It is a a real crack up. Kade is continuing to love eating and is getting more and more coordinated. His favorite foods are banana, pear, applesauce, carrots, sweet potato, and puffs. He still really enjoys taking baths and has started to really enjoy being in the pool as well. He will splash around and talk or shriek when in the pool. He loves when his sister and brother play with him by holding him in the seated position and rocking him backwards or setting up little block towers for him to crawl over to and knock down. Kade is ticklish on his tummy and even more so on his neck. We can almost always get some good laughs and giggles when we tickle him in those spots. Kade continues to enjoy stroller rides and being in the Ergo facing outwards. He likes being outside in general and does really well being on the go. He is constantly trying to eat grass, rocks, wood chips, and pine needles. Kade's current favorite toys are his activity cube, cardboard boxes, Sophie, and his socks. He loves crawling around with toys and then putting them up on things he is standing on or giving them to someone. Kade still loves load noises and crawls toward or starts cooing when he hears the vacuum, blender, or blow dryer.

Kade is at the age where he is not a fan of being put into his car seat. He cries almost every time but than thankfully is happy and talking while he is in it. He also isn't a big fan of diaper changes unless I am tickling him or singing to him. He also has cried a few times when we take something away for him that he wants to be eating that isn't safe for him to be eating.

During this month Kade has learned a few new tricks. He has learned how to get Puffs and other small objects into his mouth while eating. Kade mastered crawling on all fours instead of army crawling everywhere. He can pull up on most things that he can reach and can even hold on with only one hand. Kade has also started walking along the side of an object while holding on. He is too little to be doing such "big boy" things.

There have also been some more firsts this month for Kade. He got to celebrate his first Easter Resurrection Sunday. Kade tried many new foods such as oats, green beans, puffs, beets, white potatoes, watermelon, and kale. He took a bath in the big bathtub without his baby tub for the first time. And he is now part of a family that runs and owns a laundromat :)

Kade continues to be such an easy going, happy little guy, He truly is the perfect third baby for our family. We all continue to laugh at and love on him more and more daily! We love you Kade!

Kade - 8 Months Old

Kade is 8 MONTHS OLD!

This sweet and smiley little guy weighs right around 15 lbs and 4 oz and is about 24.5 inches long. Kade's sleeping patterns and location haven't changed much. He is still sleeping in a pack n' play in our room for naps and during the night. He usually wakes up 1-2 times a night and gets up for the day anywhere from 6:00-8:00 so you never know when he will choose to start his day. He usually goes to bed right around 7:30 after "helping" put his big brother and sister to bed. Kade still takes 3 naps on most days but if he sleeps and has at least one long nap he can get by with only two naps.  He is eating solid foods about 2 times per day. He is still in size two diapers and 3-6 month and 6 month clothes.

Kade loves army crawling around and exploring. Someone in our Lifegroup called him a salamander because of how smooth he maneuvers around. He loves to climb under the coffee table and sit under it. He loves to crawl to where the action is and be a part of it. If he sees anything new on the floor he will quickly crawl to it to try and put it in his mouth before we catch him (his favorites are leaves from the plant, computer cords, and Maci's food and water dishes) Kade still loves baths, being outside, and getting attention. He will shriek with excitement when someone comes home or gives him close up attention. He surprisingly loves the vacuum and will crawl after it quickly to try and catch it. Kade is getting the hang of eating and is really enjoying it. His favorite foods are banana, pear, applesauce, carrot, and butternut squash but there is nothing that he refuses to eat. His current favorite toys are Sophie, his shape sorter bucket, and his activity cube. He also loves chasing any kind of ball around the floor. He loves Maci and is always trying to crawl toward her and grab her. One of his favorite things is when we come into the room to get him up from sleeping. When he sees us he will give a HUGE smile and then burrow his head in the bed and wiggle his whole body around like a little worm. He also really loves being sang to before going to sleep. He isn't one to laugh very often but he always does a good belly laugh when we try and eat his tummy or give him raspberries when changing his diaper. Such a beautiful noise!

There are a few things that Kade does not enjoy. Reece and Ember really love to sit and hold him but now that he is on the move he would rather be exploring. Also, now that he moves, he is constantly putting himself in danger and he doesn't like when he takes little tumbles or bonks his head on something. Besides that he is usually happy go lucky unless he is tired or hungry.

Kade still doesn't crawl on all fours but he has learned many other things. He can sit up by himself from the laying position and also get down to the laying position from sitting without just falling over. He is getting better and better at eating puree food from a spoon and also picking up and eating steaming food from his tray. Kade can climb up onto small platforms (like the coffee table or our legs) and also put his hands on and stands up on slightly taller things like his sit me up, Amazon boxes, and the open dishwasher.

Kade had a few more firsts this month. He tried some new foods - carrots, bananas, and butternut squash. He ate them all. He also tried food pouches for the first time. He is still figuring out how those work exactly. Kade sat in the front of a grocery cart for the first time and got a lot of attention from fellow shoppers. He also went to the Phoenix Sonoran Preserve and Grand Falls (aka Chocolate Falls) for the first time.

This little guy truly is such a joy! His smiles are still overly generous. He is very laid back and good at going with the flow for the most part and loves being around all his family and our friends. We love you, Kade!

Kade - 7 Months Old

Kade is 7 months old!!

Kade is 15 lbs and a little over 24 inches long. He is still sleeping in a pack n play in our room for naps and at night. He still wakes up 1-2 times a night on average and takes 3 naps most days with the last nap usually being pretty short. Kade usually wakes up around 7:00 am for the day and goes to bed a little after 7:00 pm. He is in size 2 diapers and wearing 3-6 month and 6 month clothes.

Kade is such a little joy filled baby who likes to smile and coo most of the time. He loves it if anyone around him sings and he will usually start cooing to "sing" along. He also loves anyone talking to him directly and will start flapping his arms and smiling when someone is near him. He is on the move now and loves being able to explore around his surroundings. We got out some new toys and he has been liking playing with them. Kade likes being outside whether hanging out with us or on a walk in the stroller. He still loves baths and likes bouncing in the bouncer for short periods of time. He loves trying to grab at anything and everything within his reach and trying to get it into his mouth. His favorite toys are Sophie to chew on, a shape sorting bucket with shapes, and a Sesame Street pop up toy.

There is still not too much that this sweet boy doesn't like. When he is tired he wants to be held and still fights getting his clothes on a little bit but besides that he is usually content overall.

Kade has learned quite a few things this month. The biggest thing is starting to learn how to eat solids. With that he has learned how to sit in the booster. He also is practicing picking up small foods like cooked peas. Another big thing he has learned is how to move around. He isn't crawling yet in the traditional sense but he can propel himself forward, backward, and sideways by pulling, pushing, scooting, and rolling. He has also learned how to get up on his hands and knees and rock. Kade has learned how to maneuver his tongue and lips more and enjoys sticking his tongue out and also making fish faces. He can also sit unsupported by himself now. My favorite thing he has learned is how to shriek with excitement. When I first get him up in the morning or after a nap and bring him around the corner from our room into the living room he will often shriek with excitement to see who is out there. He will also do this if you come over by him when he was by himself in the bouncer or his sit me up. It is adorable!

Kade has had a lot of firsts this month as well. He had his first Valentine's Day. He ate his first solid foods and has tried avocado, sweet potato, pear, peas, and applesauce. He doesn't love any of them yet but has eaten them all at least some. He has gotten his first two teeth - the bottom, middle ones. He has gone swimming for the first time when we did a family swim day at the Aquaplex. He was pretty indifferent to the pool. He wasn't splashing and excited but he wasn't crying either. He also experienced his first record breaking snow storm in which Flagstaff got 33 inches of snow in just one day.

This age is so fun because Kade is interacting and learning so much each day. The older kids still love him so much and get as excited as we do with each new milestone. They cheer him on along the way. Kade fits in so well and none of us can imagine life without him!

Here are a few more pictures from the month:

Mexico Trip in February

We headed down to Mexico again for some warmer weather which we needed greatly in the middle of Flagstaff winter. We celebrated Valentine's Day down there and had a great time!

Kade's 1st Valentine's Day

We checked out Manny's since they remodeled it!

There were some swings that both kids loved

Caught these two cuddling right before bedtime one night :)

Wonderful time with family as always! We are so thankful for having this beautiful place to enjoy!

Kade - 6 Months Old

And here we are at half a year already. This little boy has blessed our life for 6 great months and we are so grateful for who he is and what he adds to our family!

Kade weighs 14 lbs and is 23.5 inches long. Kade still sleeps in our room for naps and at nighttime. He wakes up 1-2 times a night and takes 3 naps each day of varying length. He can now stay awake for over 2 hours at least once a day. He has been waking up for the day between 6:30 - 7:00 and is so happy and content in the morning that we have been loving our time with just him. He is still in size 2 diapers. He is wearing 3 month and 6 month clothes.

Kade still is a happy little man. He loves anyone giving him attention and will give just the biggest gummy smile. He can't wait to come out of our room after waking up and see who is around to say "hi" too. He loves baths and kicks and splashes around during them. He loves to roll to his tummy and then back to his back and scoot in a circle to try and reach different toys or things. He is never where you left him on the floor. His favorite toys are Beat Bo, Sophie, and his light up snail with a mirror on it. He absolutely loves when Ember and Reece are around him playing with him and is very interested in watching Maci if she is nearby as well. He enjoys the Ergo again now that he is facing outward in it and Kade still loves sucking his thumb to comfort himself.

He dislikes getting out of the warm bubble bath. He sometimes doesn't like to be put in his car seat. When he is getting tired, he likes to be held instead of on the ground. He is also starting to dislike getting his clothes changed. He fights it when we try and get his arms and legs into his clothes.

This month, Kade has learned to sit supported really well and unsupported for up to 10-15 seconds before tipping over. He has also learned how to get his toes into his mouth and sometimes uses that to soothe himself. He has also learned how to scoot around in a circle when he is laying on the ground. Kade is also really good at supporting his weight all the way up on this arms instead of just his forearms.

He got to go in the bouncer for the first time this month and is growing to love it... especially now that his feet touch the floor better and he is more able to bounce. I think that is about it for firsts this month.

We are shocked that 6 months with this beautiful baby have already passed. We love his so much and can't wait to spend many more months with him!

Here are a few more pictures from the month!
