Fourth of July Weekend

Flagstaff was voted the BEST Fourth of July Celebration in the country! So... we had to take advantage of that and enjoy it! Grandma and Grandpa Flin also wanted in on the FUN and came up Thursday afternoon for the weekend and festivities.

The biggest thing for the 4th of July is the parade in downtown Flagstaff with 113 entries. It lasts about 2 hours. And if you do not show up early.... there is barely standing room! Jeff volunteered to get downtown at 6:00 am and Dustin and Grandpa joined him around 7:00. And it was worth it! We had prime seats front row and in the shade the whole time. Thank you boys! We met them there around 8:30 with Wildflower for breakfast and then the fun began!

Later that afternoon after Ember's nap - we went to the fairgrounds for a free concert from the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra since the monsoon rain stopped right when the concert began. It was gorgeous outside and the music was good too!

Then we headed home and grilled up some Hawaiin Turkey Burgers and had some grilled peaches for dessert. Perfect 4th of July celebration. There were fireworks too in Flagstaff but we opted out since they were past Ember's bedtime!

On Saturday, we started off the morning with a Paleo Breakfast Lasagna (had fun introducing mom and dad to the world of paleo we are living in for a few weeks!) then walked on the Urban Trail to a nearby park where we enjoyed the beautiful Flagstaff summer weather and played at the park.

That afternoon we went for a family workout, grilled some steaks, Facetimed with the Brucks, and watched Ember crawl through her tunnel for the first time! She isn't scared any more!! YEAH!

Sunday - we went to church after some chocolate strawberry waffles and then got Brandy's (local restaurant owned by our next door neighbors) take out for lunch and enjoyed the last afternoon of the 3 day weekend! Great time with family! Happy Independence Day!!

  2. I realized I never commented on this! What a fun little parade to go to. HAPT will have to have a float in the parade one of these years! :) And way to go Jeff for saving spots! Looked like a beautiful weekend, weather wise! Love that picture of Ember on the swing! And YAY for Ember going through the tunnel! Nice seeing everyone as well!
